Dear friends,
It is with a lot of emotion, enthusiasm, and certainly a bit of nostalgia that I write these few words to you.
Like everything in life, there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. The time I spent as the founder of what was the first major solo project of my life has come to an end, as the company changed ownership this month.
Exactly four years ago, I launched the brand Nunamae. As an entrepreneur, woman, and mother, I experienced ups and downs that allowed both myself and the brand to grow. For a long time, Nunamae and I were in a kind of symbiosis, and we both grew and learned. I learned to know myself better, to understand what motivates me and makes me thrive. I doubted myself several times, I was afraid, but I always followed my heart, as well as reason. Today, I look back on the path, and I see what has worked.
After many months of reflection, I decided that it was time to dedicate myself to new projects. Nunamae has become independent and will finally be able to fly in the hands of Toos Vergote, the new owner, whom I will introduce to you in the next post.
"After many months of reflection, I decided that it was time to dedicate myself to new projects."
The transition will, however, be smooth, and I will remain with the company in the near future to ensure the transfer is carried out in the best possible way for all parties involved and to provide all the necessary support.
Nunamae was born from a desire to promote Portuguese craftsmanship, to create and provide quality products in a responsible and sustainable manner, thinking about the future of the planet and our children. It was also born from a desire to feel freer, more myself, to reconnect with my country and my roots while showing the world the good things we do in Portugal. It was born from a desire to show that behind every Nunamae rug, there is a team of artisans who need to be supported. We must keep this craftsmanship alive. It has always been a small brand with a strong desire to grow in the right way, without haste, with meaning.
Today, I am ending my adventure with this incredible project, but I promise you that Toos will continue and do an amazing job. To all of you who follow us, our customers, and our partners, thank you very much for your trust, empathy, and support.
Sending you all my love,
Mariana
